Currently we are searching for a Manufacturing Section Manager (Line Supervisor) to assist in enriching our Topeka, Kansas plant location.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Manufacturing Section Manager- 3rd Shift, Topeka Manufacturing Facility

 

The Topeka Manufacturing Section Manager is responsible for daily attainment of production and/or delivery of Hallmark branded products in a short cycle manufacturing environment. The incumbent supervises up to 40 employees, oversees the scheduling and assignment of work in accordance with priorities and effective machine utilization. The Manufacturing Section Manager works to achieve all production, quality, service, cost and continuous improvement objectives in a team environment.

 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Schedules and assigns, or supervises the scheduling and assignment of jobs in accordance with market-driven priorities and effective machine/resource utilization.

  • Performs all supervisory tasks in a timely and appropriate manner, including anticipating personnel requirements; making employment recommendations; training and developing employees; approving VTO, overtime and pay differential, and counseling employees on performance related issues, writing and giving performance documentation such as communication records and performance reviews.

  • Acts as a representative of Hallmark to direct reports on all significant personal and business events. Is attentive to diversity and employee relations issues in the workplace.

  • Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of production systems and procedures necessary to meet department production requirements. Possesses an adequate technical understanding in order to manage department.

  • Insures that all department personnel maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area and comply with sound safety practices, that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner, and that all safety standards are met.

  • Monitors department budget and takes appropriate action to insure that expenditures are within established limits. Manages department costs related to efficiencies, indirect, scheduling variance and overtime.

 

  • Develops a partnership with quality, monitors product quality and insures that product is produced to standard. Works with upstream and downstream departments to improve product quality. Establishes quality standards into every employee's job.

  • Develops and maintains effective communications with the department and with other production center departments, both operating and support departments.

  • Maintains accurate department records, including both production and employee records.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Leadership or management experience

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or printing

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organization skills

  • Problem solving and attention to detail

Additional Details

This position is located in the Topeka Manufacturing Facility in Topeka, Kansas.

The hours for this 3rd shift position are 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
