Helping the Victims of the Earthquake in Peru

Noted as one of the worst natural disasters to hit Peru within the last 100 years, the earthquake that hit Wednesday night left 2,000 injured and over 500 fatalities. With a magnitude of approx. 8.0, this massive earthquake was centered in the ocean about 90 miles south of the country’s capital and was followed by nine aftershocks

In the midst of crumbled buildings and piles of debris, victims of the quake struggle to cope with the loss of homes and family members. As the health needs of victims continue to be a growing concern, the Peruvian government released clearance for Direct Relief’s humanitarian aid. In response to the disaster, Direct Relief International has been providing victims with medical and personal care.

Direct Relief has committed $100,000 of its own resources regardless of whether any contributions are received. Any additional funds that are received for the quake will be restricted for use only in response to the Peru tragedy.

If you would like to contribute to the quake relief effort, please log on to www.directrelief.org. A monetary donation may be made online and you may designate your donation specifically for this cause. In addition to Direct Relief’s efforts, The Embassy of Peru has opened up an account with HSBC Bank to receive donations. Below you will find all necessary bank information. Each dollar will be used to assist the victims of the earthquake.

For all those who wish to contribute, the victims of the Peru earthquake would like to thank you in advance for your help during this difficult time.
