The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) District 508, is the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest in the nation, with 5,800 faculty and staff serving 120,000 students at seven campuses and thirteen satellite sites city-wide. The City Colleges of Chicago is currently in the midst of a collaborative effort to review and revise CCC programs and practices to ensure students leave CCC college-ready, career-ready and prepared to pursue their life’s goals.

CCC includes seven colleges: Richard J. Daley College, Kennedy-King College, Malcolm X College, Olive-Harvey College, Harry S Truman College, Harold Washington College and Wilbur Wright College. The system also oversees: the Washburne Culinary Institute, the French Pastry School, two restaurants, five Child Development Centers, the Center for Distance learning, the Workforce Institute, the public broadcast station WYCC-TV Channel 20 and radio station WKKC-FM 89.3FM.
Duties

This position is responsible for providing administrative and confidential support to the Vice Chancellor by researching various projects, writing reports and/or articles, coordinating a variety of different functions, acting as a liaison for the Vice Chancellor, and serving on an array of committees.

 

Conducts research on a variety of issues at the direction of the Vice Chancellor.  Research can be conducted through library searches, interviews, and/or surveys.  Provides summaries of research results.  Investigates and gathers information on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.  Provides summaries of information gathered.  Responds to various issues as requested by the Vice Chancellor.  Drafts reports, memos, and letters for the Vice Chancellor.  Researches and writes articles on a variety of activities occurring at the District.

 

Serves on various committees as directed.  Maintains confidential and/or sensitive information for the Vice Chancellor.  May supervise and train clerical staff in the Vice Chancellor’s Office.  Provides necessary constructive discipline as needed.  Maintains expense reports.  Prepares quarterly reports for the Vice Chancellor’s review.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

All CCC employees are required to adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.  A combination of work experience and higher-level course work will be considered based on the applicant's qualifications.  Three years of progressively responsible business/office experience that includes researching issues, writing drafts, assembling reports, composing summaries, and other correspondence and verbally disseminating information.

 

Extensive personal computer and software experience including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and desktop publishing.  Must be able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization, including students and the general public.  Must be able to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.  Supervisory experience highly preferred.  Must be self-directed and able to prioritize assignments.  Must be able to meet assignment deadlines.
