Hello Monica,

You have gotten some good advice so far but in order to actually practice law here, you will need to get an LLM which is a masters degree in law. It is offered at many universities for foriegn lawyers. It will allow you to take the bar exam in New York, Louisiana or Washington DC. It is expensive and varies from university to university. You can find better advice at llmguide.com. My wife is a lawyer from Mexico and has just completed her LLM and taken the bar exam in New York.
Thanks a lot!
