Two Great Boston Companies Partner to Please Diners
BOSTON, MA ( March 3, 2009) – Boston-based Uno Chicago Grill® and the Boston Beer Company, makers of Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, teamed together to develop a popular steak sauce recipe that will now be permanently featured on Uno’s® menu with their Brewmaster’s Grill NY Sirloin.
“Samuel Adams Boston Lager has long been a favorite of our customers,” noted Rick Hendrie, senior vice president, marketing. “We’ve had a relationship with Samuel Adams for many years, in fact, they brew our private-label Uno Amber Ale. As the nation’s number one craft brewery, they’re known for outstanding ‘artisinal’ craft beers. Since we’re committed to creating menu items made with artisinal ingredients and full flavor, it was only natural for us to extend our relationship into recipe development.”
In late 2006, chefs from both Uno Chicago Grill and Boston Beer Company began collaborating on a recipe for what is now known as Uno’s Wowza Sauce™. The sauce was introduced as part of a limited-time-only menu in late 2007. The dish was so popular, the company decided to make it a permanent menu item served on the Certified Angus Beef® Brewmaster’s Grill NY Sirloin beginning this fall (priced from $19.99).
“Samuel Adams Boston Lager is a full-flavored beer that pairs well with big flavorful dishes like Uno’s Brewmaster’s Grill NY Sirloin,” said Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams.
“Samuel Adams’ products have always been tremendously popular in our restaurants,” noted Mr. Hendrie. “We are absolutely delighted to see that our collaborative effort with the Wowza Sauce builds on that appeal.”

About The Boston Beer Company:
The Boston Beer Company began in 1984 with a generations-old family recipe that Founder and Brewer Jim Koch uncovered in his father’s attic. After bringing the recipe to life in his kitchen, Jim brought it to bars in Boston with the belief that drinkers would appreciate a complex, full-flavored beer, brewed fresh in America. That beer was Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, and it helped catalyze what became known as the American craft beer revolution.
