Manager, Transportation Planning

This person will be accountable for leading a transportation team of planners, who are responsible for planning and executing Company shipments daily across all business platforms. Typical daily load volumes under management by this role will be 500-1,200, subject to change based upon business needs and productivity initiatives. This person will lead partnership meetings with internal/external stakeholders to ensure operational excellence. The Transportation Planning Manager will also participate on cross-functional teams, representing transportation operations. Key accountabilities of this role include:

• Leading a diverse team of transportation planners both on-site and virtually for • • Performing analyses to determine opportunities to reduce transportation costs and/or improve customer service levels

• Driving the operational performance of 100-200 carrier vendors

• Engaging key stakeholders to assure service levels meet business requirements

• Communicating status of area daily via reporting and conference calls

• Arranging and leading carrier meetings to drive operational load coverage and process compliance

• Developing team processes consistent with corporate policies and procedures pertaining to transportation

• Performing additional duties as assigned

• Bachelor Degree required or equivalent combination of required work experience and some education related to the transportation and logistics field

• Six (6) to eight (8) years experience at a managerial level with transportation/supply chain responsibilities strongly preferred

• Knowledge of transportation planning and execution processes, knowledge of order management processes

• Prior experience managing a geographically dispersed team in a virtual manner a plus

• Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred

• Prior operations experience working in a fast-paced, multi-modal shipping environment

• Demonstrated ability to perform needed calculations and analyses to review and/or support supply chain initiatives

• Strong computer skills required with preference for previous Transportation Management System (TMS) experience, such as Oracle Transportation Management (OTM)

• Strong self-management and personal accountability skills

• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

• Time flexibility a must, including ability to be available for night, weekend and holiday issue resolution

• Ability to travel by plane or car for Company business
