Thought of the Day: Your body is for keeps

I attended a long meeting of the Latin American Agents Association - LAAA here in Los Angeles last night and once more, we shared stories of people we know who got caught uninsured. Appendicitis, a broken leg on a ski outing...The body just does these unexpected things to healthy people and the medical bills can weigh on you for many years. My dream is that our community will come to see health insurance as something you buy so you have the peace of mind of walking in to the doctor's office or hospital and flashing your ID card, knowing you will get the timely attention you need to feel good, stay productive and keep on enjoying your life.
Granted, money is tight right now, but every year companies put out more options and people can usually find something that suits their individual, family and business needs at a decent price. Because why would you spend hundreds of dollars on a new phone and not invest in your health care? In the long run, your phone, your IPod and your Playstation will be replaced by new models over and over, but your body is for keeps.
