Latino Health Journal- the peer -reviewed journal for decision makers in Latino Health and Culture

The Premier of the Latino MED Journal
By Tonantzin E. Soto, BS, MPH-IP

Sacramento, July 20, 2005 – Dr. Robert A. Beltran, MD , the President of the Latino Med Policy Institute, announces a premier peer-reviewed journal devoted to Latino health and culture, entitled the Latino MED Journal. The collaborative efforts between Dr. Beltran and Jose Perez, CEO of the Latino Journal have begun to develop the publication to create and capture the intellectual capital of experts from diverse backgrounds who share a passion with the Latino community for the power of health and well -being.

The Latino MED Journal is about the Latino perspective in medical practice, medical politics, and medical education at the local, as well as global viewpoint. Its central theme is an exploration of the Latino health culture as a core symbol in the culture of American medicine. An examination of what Latino health and culture means to individual health care providers, to the professional and the healthcare industry at large.

“There are no higher goals than equality, fairness and social justice in health. Our hope is that each and every leader will join us on this quest for individual and community population-based empowerment in health,” expressed by Dr. Beltran.

Latino MED Journal will be released in 2005.
