HOLLAND -- Holland High School senior Juan Martinez has been selected Michigan Hispanic Caucus Student of the Year by Hispanic legislators. The son of Martin and Maria Martinez, of Holland, he hopes to use the $500 scholarship as part of his tuition to Hope College or Grand Valley State University next year.

"This really encourages you, as a minority student, to do your best and work hard at getting to college," Juan Martinez said Monday night following his introduction to the Holland Board of Education by Holland High Principal Bill Trujillo.
