Press Advisory

As you know the June 12th Digital Television Transition is quickly coming upon us this will affect you, or your family members, friends, and neighbors who watch free, over-the-air TV, using a rabbit ear antenna. Television provides critical alerts and public service announcements about health, natural disasters, product recalls, and community news – and for our elders and those who are homebound, TV is often an important lifeline to the outside world. And it’s vital that we work together to ensure that all Atlanta families are ready for the switch.

That’s why on May 16th we’re asking you to join Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association Georgia/Atlanta Tech Council and LISTA Techno Centro volunteers at Atlanta’s Digital Day of Action.

You can sign up to volunteer by calling 800-775-0899 or email John Simmons at Simmonsj@a-lista.org

On Saturday, May 16th, the Digital Day of Action, you will have the chance to help community members who are not yet prepared for the DTV transition, by delivering Digital Converter Box coupon applications and information packets that will help these families take the steps necessary to keep their free, over-the-air TV. Although there are many TV ads telling people about the DTV transition, we know that this kind of door-to-door, neighbor-to-neighbor assistance is the most effective way to spread the word and help people understand what they need to do to be ready.

Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association hopes you will join the effort on May 16th and help our Atlanta neighbors prepare for this analog-to-digital transition.

What: VOLUNTEER to Help Your Community Prepare for the DTV Transition – SIGN UP and volunteer by calling 800-775-0899 or email John Simmons at Simmonsj@a-lista.org

5935 S Norcross Tucker Road, Suite #11
