Our Home Office is in Erie, Pa., and our 23 field offices employ more than 4,200 people. ERIE’s territory includes 11 states and the District of Columbia.

Basic Functions:

We are actively recruiting for our 2012 District Sales Manager (DSM) Training Program.  This program is a combination of field experience and classroom training spread over approximately 32 weeks.  During this 32-week period, the newly hired DSMs will spend time in a classroom setting learning all aspects of the position. In addition, they will spend a significant amount of time working in our operating territory directly with experienced field managers and ERIE Agents applying what they have learned in real situations. After the completion of the DSM Training Program, DSMs will be assigned to a Branch Office in ERIE’s operating territory, and therefore, must be willing to relocate to the assigned territory in ERIE’s footprint (11 Middle Atlantic States and District of Columbia). Every effort is made to ultimately assign the new DSMs to desired territories.

In this challenging position, you will lead your district of approximately 25 independent agencies. DSMs recruit, train, guide and motivate Agents in matters of sales, underwriting and profitability, and agency management. You will serve as a company representative in maintaining favorable Policyholder relationships. While not guaranteed, this position has proven to be an excellent stepping stone for many current leaders at ERIE in a variety of functional areas.

Prior sales, underwriting or marketing experience along with interacting with Agents or the public is preferred.  Willingness to participate in the training program along with the relocation to the assigned territory is required.  An understanding of and commitment to ERIE’s “Above All in Service” philosophy is required.  Extensive travel, including overnight stays is required.
