This acquisition also brings a portfolio of well established brands to PPG such as Glidden, Glidden Professional, Ralph Lauren Paint, Devoe Coatings and Martha Stewart Living paints; Flood, Sikkens and Synteko woodcare products; plus Liquid Nails adhesives and caulks.

PPG Industries is seeking a talented individual for a Cost Accountant position located in Carrollton, TX. The Cost Accountant ensures accurate and timely completion of activities and reporting, including the processing of the site payroll (including overtime reporting), the recording of miscellaneous consumption of raw materials and finished goods, and reviews, codes, and ensures proper approval on all expensed goods and services. He/she also prepares miscellaneous invoices, audits Corporate Purchasing Card (CPC) transactions, as well as reconciles ledger accounts assigned and ensures that accurate standard costs are applied to new product codes. Must be analytical, aggressive, be an advisor and lead the groups, strong systems experience, MS Access and SAP experience is needed/required!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze production costs and related variances including purchase price variance.

  • Input production batch tickets as needed.

  • Report variance analysis to management by providing monthly 5209 statements and supplemental reporting as required.

  • Provide timely estimates to the corporate Finance team and Plant management, especially one-time events such as the booking of a physical inventory or a plant rebate received.

  • Lead and assist in the coordination and reconciliation of the annual physical inventories and to supervise other PAF inventories as needed.

  • Ensure integrity of the physical inventory interfaces of centralized systems (PkMS, EMIS, Oracle, Tandem) as it relates to quantities and dollar records.

  • Actively participate on the Recoverable Assets Committee and ensure action plans are developed and implemented to minimize loss.

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret the annual manufacturing budget.

  • Supervise and coordinate the efforts of the annual re-costing of PAF products.

  • Prepare the economic justifications of all A.C.T.'s (Capital and Extraordinary) and route for proper approvals.

  • Maintain ICSP's in Sarbanes-Oxley format and ensure compliance.

  • Ensure compliance to records retention guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with ALL customers and co-workers, including the production management, technical and sales functions.

  • Assist the Manager, Financial Services on projects as needed.

  • Participate as a member of the plant Leadership Team.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business related field.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Exhibit leadership characteristics and sound organizational skills.

  • Strong PC Skills and a strong knowledge of Oracle, Excel and Access.

  • Effective communication and other interpersonal skills.
