Our Claims Division is always looking for talented individuals to join our organization. Claims professionals deal directly with our customers and play a key role in making that experience as easy and positive as possible, aligning with ERIE's customer service philosophy.  Our employees are committed to serving our customers and claimants by explaining the claims process, helping them understand what needs to be done, and making sure they know what to expect and when.

 

Some of the key Claims positions include:

  • Claims Support Staff - Help all the Claims processes run smoothly and assist customers with questions

  • Inside Claims Representatives - Handle minor property or auto claims, typically over the phone

  • Claims Adjusters - Specialize in one of four areas:  property damage (home), material damage (auto), workers' compensation or liability.  Assigned to a specific territory and often working from home, they handle examining the site of the accident or loss, talking to witnesses and reviewing reports, and determining whether the claim is paid and negotiating the settlement amount. 

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work well independently.

  • Ability to operate a computer and related software and systems.

Qualifications:

Claims Support Staff -

  • High School diploma required.

  • Two years of clerical or office experience required.

  • Demonstrated ability to type and enter data with accuracy preferred.

  • Experience in the insurance industry preferred.

  • Completion of LOMASelect tests required.

Inside Claims Representatives -

  • High school diploma and three years of claims related handling or customer service OR associate's degree and one year of related claims handling or customer service experience OR bachelor's degree required.

  • Completion of LOMASelect tests required.

  • Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance and Claims preferred.

Claims Adjusters -

  • High school diploma required.  Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Depending on level of position, Claims handling experience preferred OR five years claims adjusting experience required.

  • Successful completion of Associate in Claims preferred.

  • Incumbent must live in territory assigned.

  • Incumbent must serve on the Catastrophe team, which may include travel on short notice to other locations for periods in excess of two weeks.

  • Some positions require state licensing
