Hispanic Business magazine has ranked American Airlines and Southwest Airlines in the magazine's "Diversity Elite 60" companies with Hispanic-friendly records. American ranked 32nd, with Southwest at 59th, the only two passenger airlines on the list. FedEx ranked 54th.
In its diversity statement on Hispanic Business' Web site, American says: "Our dedication to diversity is far more than just a statement; it's woven into the fabric of our everyday business practices. We take a holistic approach to deliver what our Hispanic customers value." In its statement, Southwest says that the carrier "shows appreciation for cultural and lifestyle differences within our diverse workforce through procurement efforts, recruitment, and the advancement of women and minorities."
