Middle-aged Torres brings home 3 silvers from Beijing

Dara earned silver in all three of her races in Beijing, earning her 12 career medals beginning as a 17-year-old at the 1984 Olympics in her hometown of LA. Torres and swimmer Jenny Thompson are tied for most medals ever won by an American woman.



Dara Torres, 41, became the oldest swimming athlete to metal in Olympic history on Sunday. She has retired twice from swimming and has a 2-year-old daughter, but keeps coming back to the pool.

Son of Mexican immigrants, Jorge Torres competing in Beijing

Jorge Torres of Boulder, Colorado was third in the 10,000 at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene in 27:46.33 and will be headed to the Beijing Olympics along with Abdi Abdirahman and Galen Rupp. He entered the Trials already having the Olympic "A" standard, having run 27:42.91 in 2007.
