Looking for Something To Do? Why Not Give Reading a Shot!

When I wrote this, it was snowing outside, thanks to the courtesy of winter storm Albert coming up the East coast. My town was fortunate to only get 12 to 16 inches. Some other areas of the state got over 24 inches. Due to my injury this past summer, I’m still recovering and medically forbidden from all strong twisting motions that may cause me to… Continue

An Annual Ritual: The Company Holiday Party

HolidayParty1 Today I went to an annual ritual enjoyed by many in the corporate world. Today was my company’s annual holiday party. Complete with raffles, cash bar and plenty of food, the atmosphere was ripe for mingling between colleagues. What I personally never fail to notice is how many people come to such parties and then basically sit by themselves with maybe one other colleague. At a similar company party many years ago, I asked one of my then colleagues, who told me he preferred… Continue

Need a stocking stuffer?

Dear Friends, my last paperback book,Custer and His Naked Ladies, would make a good stocking stuffer. It has a gorgeous cover and Hispanic characters based upon my mother and her sisters. A lot of Latino books seem to focus on politics, but this story is a fictional family saga about a Hispanic family in the Southwest. It's the type of book women will enjoy. Check out the info on Amazon.com. Many thanks, and Happy Holidays!

Oh! I should tell you that Naked Ladies are flowers that the old… Continue

Bad Influences from Cheerleaders

I watched "Bring It On - Fight to the Finish" with my wife and daughter. (Ok, dudes, let me have it. Just loving my girls!) We have seen all four "Bring It On" movies and were completely dissatisfied with Fight to the Finish.

The movie gave bad images of East Los Angeles Latinos and Latinas. For example, the main character, a Cuban-American teenager, was rude and disrespectful to her step-dad. Also, there was a scene in which two East LA Latina's provoked an almost fight with a white… Continue

How to Break Out of a Sales Funk

by Victor Antonio, Sales Influence

How many times has this happened? You’re trying to schedule two meetings on the same day and you anticipate the first meeting will take about an hour and you estimate that you’ll be done by 3pm. You then need to set a time for the second meeting so you start the following scheduling exercise in your mind:

* Okay, if I’m out of the meeting and in my car by 3:00 I should beat rush hour.

* Without traffic I should be… Continue

How much do you know about Jacksonville Florida Green Homes

While it is easy to claim that a home is a green home, not every home is an energy efficient Green Home.

Green homes are not homes that neither are green in color nor are they homes inside a large, tall tree. Green Homes are, by the web definition: A home that uses less energy, water, natural resources, create less waste and is healthier for the people living inside.

Our definition is a bit wider and it is: A home is considered green when it incorporates smart design…

Honduras elects a new President!

In the Telenovela that is Honduras, the latest chapter provides us with a positive turn of events. The Presidential election is over and Porifirio Lobo of the National Party led with 56 percent of the votes, defeating Elvin Santos of the Liberal Party which had 38 percent.
