Reunion Reflections - Class of 1976
By Robert A. Beltran, M.D., M.B.A., FACMQ - President - Latino Med Policy Institute

In fact, the earlier half of this year was marked by large-scale political mobilizations led by the Hispanic community like the American public has never seen before. Those street protests started in…

The AP/Monterey County Herald examined how many low-income immigrants and their families have problems with access to mental health treatment because of "a language barrier and a deep cultural divide." The National Latino and Asian-American Study, conducted in December 2003 with funds from the National Institute of Mental Health, found that Hispanic and Asian immigrants had a lower rate of mental health problems than native U.S. residents but sought treatment for their problems less often.…

Analyses of exit polls are detailing the values, concerns and motivations of Latino voters specifically. Their concerns, it turns out, are just as broad as those of other Americans.
Latinos worry about the war, the economy and the quality of the nation's leadership. As with other Americans, they are not concerned primarily with immigration policy.
Above all, Latinos are socially diverse. Recent arrivals might worry about different issues and vote differently than Latinos…

Have you ever thought about how it was possible for you as a baby to learn to speak your mother tongue without training? No one taught you to understand and speak your mother tongue. You just listened and imbibed. The same way you can learn to speak French, Spanish, German or any other language today.
Now that you are thinking about it, does it not ring a bell to you that as a baby you learnt to talk by listening to what were said around you? And have you considered why it was important,…

Did you know that Google Adwords as an online advertising campaign is proving a dramatic shift for some people by helping them earn income far more than wages from their drudgery day jobs? So most of them are sacking their bosses and quitting their day jobs to work at home.
Yet most people who have tried their hands on Adwords have found the system so difficult to help them generate the level of profit that could make them think of quitting their day jobs. I was one of those people…
