Florida hospital seeks Puerto Rico interns for Hispanic patients

AP - Medical students at the University of Puerto Rico will serve internships at an Orlando hospital as part of an agreement to attract personnel who speak Spanish and understand the culture of a growing Hispanic population in central Florida. Visa charges ahead with Hispanic financial education

San Francisco-based Visa USA said Wednesday that it will launch a financial education campaign targeting Hispanics. The move reflects the growing importance of the Hispanic market to the nation's financial services industry. Hispanics now one-seventh of U.S. population

WASHINGTON - One of every seven people in the United States is Hispanic, a record number that probably will keep rising because of immigration and a birth rate outstripping that of non-Hispanic blacks and whites. Unemployment Rate for Hispanics Drops in May

June 3, 2005 -- Unemployment rate for Hispanics drops to 6.0% in May, according to data released today by the U.S. Department of Labor. The unemployment rate among Hispanics dropped from 6.4 percent in April and is now closer to the overall U.S. unemployment rate of 5.1 percent. Hispanics gained 165,000 new jobs in May, absorbing an increase of 96,000 Hispanics to the labor force.
