Profile Information

about me
My name is Maria Callejas. I am new in this country and it is one of my first steps in this process to grow and become a contributing member of this society.

For the past 28 years, I have worked with the Environmental Authority of the Colombian government as an Environmental Inspector. I worked with small groups of farmers, faith-based groups, and tribal governments to create and implement programs whose goals included improving health, social services, and nutrition. I directed funds from local and foreign non-profit organizations, embassies and other carrier centers involved in social assistance (i.e., The World Bank).

However, this region of Colombia was filled with armed conflict and extremely dangerous situations. Therefore, the Colombian government granted me political asylum in 2008. I have been living in the United States since then and learning English language.

My diverse educational experiences include a Master’s degree in Arts in Social Development Projects from the University of North in Colombia, South America, a Master’s degree in Auditing & Business Planning of the Environment which ireceived from two international institutions in Malaga, Spain), and a Bachelor’s degree as a Dietician & Nutritionist.

In closing, I will be satisfied if my experiences and my skills, would allow me to be useful, for working in the US.
