Veronica currently works for the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau (DCVB), as the Director of Diversity and Community Relations. She has been with the Dallas CVB since November 2003, with a strong focus on attracting diverse conventions and events to Dallas while developing partnerships in the local Dallas community. Ms. Torres has been instrumental in the Latino, Asian and GLBT convention markets and aggressive in her involvement in community programs for all niche markets through various marketing and fundraising strategies.
Since 2003, Torres has been instrumental in booking conventions for all diverse markets and working closely with media relations and community outreach through marketing efforts with local Dallas CVB niche agencies. She has increased the number of diverse conventions in Dallas in the last 3 years and currently has booked more now than in previous years. Prior to the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau Ms. Torres worked for Intercontential Hotels marketing Crowne Plaza Hotels to the Corporate and association Markets.
A Hispanic originally from Austin, Texas, Torres is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She is currently a member of several industry and community organizations such as International Hispanic Meeting Professionals, as a board advisor; member of the National Society for Hispanic Professionals; Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as the present Chair for the Young Professionals group (YP214); Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas; International Association of Exhibition Management (IAEM) ; Meeting Professionals International (MPI) where she works closely with the Cultural Business Connections Committee; Big Brothers & Big Sisters of North Texas as a Big Sister; Los Comadres Dallas Chapter; Board member with The Social-list Latino Professional Network; Board member for the Lee Park and Arlington Hall Conservancy; Serves on the Advisory board for Woman that Soar; St. Jude’s 2009 Co-chair for “Noche de Esperaza”;Past Young Leaders Advisory Board for the YWCA Dallas; Past host committee Chair for Latina Style Magazine Business Series Dallas 2007; Serves as the Secretary on the board for the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association; Serves as the Treasurer on the Board for the Parents Step Ahead Program; Awarded “Emerging Leader Award” in 2008 from the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Torres serves as a strong partner with the Greater Asian Chamber of Dallas, the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Board of Director for the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce.
