Melanie Briones is an alumnae of the Central Valley Health Policy Leadership Program and currently serves as the Senior Health Policy Analyst with the Central Valley Health Policy Institute (CVHPI), a health policy institute partnering with the California State University, Fresno to facilitate regional research, leadership training and graduate education programs to address emerging health policy issues that influence the health status of people living in Central California. Ms. Briones has provided expertise in applied public health epidemiological practice, community research study designs, descriptive health policy, project evaluation, grant writing, and community partnerships with the Stanislaus County Public Health Department and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)-Fresno Latino Center for Medical Research, and California Department of Public Health. Ms. Briones received a BA in Environmental Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MPH from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology. Her primary areas of research interest include health care economics, policies, and financing; social epidemiology and health policy; environmental and occupational health outcome disparities; and racial/ethnic/cultural/gender-based health inequities.
