Hi Marta,
I like that you are interested in learning. I share your curiosity. You know what they say about people who think that they know it all...they actually know nothing. I am never afraid to say I don't know. A professor once told me: "There are three types of information. (1)The information that you think you know--(2) The information that you know that you don't know and (3) the information that you don't know that you don't know. Think about it and let me know your thoughts.-

Hi Marta,

The job fair I mentioned before is in Orlando and only for MBAs.
My background is in IT and I finished my MBA this August.
I'm in Boston, if I find about any event here for you I'll say something.
See you,
Fernando

Hi Marta,

Yes, I'm Portuguese.
yesterday I went to the job fair but it wasn't anything interesting for me. Most of the time they said I was overqualified for those job and that I should register on their website.
I think the best job fair for me would be the NSHMBA next month.
On the legal field I have no knowledge.
Best,

Fernando

Hi Marta,

Sorry for the late reply. I just came back from the job fair and in all honesty I doubt these companies were offering jobs in the legal field. I personally don't believe it is the right spot for you, although, you could take the opportunity to connect with some of the HR people.
In regards to where to find jobs on the legal field here in NY, it would all depend on your qualifications. You may be a lawyer in Brazil but without the Bar examination in the US and specifically in NY it will be quite difficult to exercise your profession (straight up that's what it is). If you are a paralegal certified in the state of NY it would be easier and you could try some recruiters listed for Compliance or Legal Research - I have a couple which I could forward later to you. On the other hand, if you are not certified in the US or the state but have legal background, then your search will be narrowed to a legal assistant position since you could not advise or provide further input on a legal action. In that case, my suggestion is to look into private law firms. The Bar Association (each state has one) or even the Directory will give you an extensive list of lawyers that could require your expertise. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. Please note that this is my opinion and comments based on the experience I have from working in a global corporation and knowledge about the market. Best, Jacqueline
Saludos,
Jacqueline
