well about me being on the Salsa scene; Actually NOT. I like salsa but I just don't have time. In the professional world is hard to find the time but you have to do something as a Hobby. In fact, I can not remember the last time I actually went dancing. I was surprised to find on youtube that salsa is so widespread all over the world now.
Besides Salsa I also went to Film School in L.A. and I'm Co-founder of nalip.org Check it out.
Starting a Salsa Festival here in Vegas is just a wish.
I will not attempt it as a sole organizer. but I did talk to a friend of mine who is a Salsa instructor in L.A.

How are you? and how is beautiful HI?
Where is Millilani? never heard of it.
Although I have only been ONCE each to Honolulu and Kona
and about Salsa
I went dancing Salsa in Kona near the "French Bakery" as the locals refer to for directions.
Then I found out about another place, in a Mexican Restaurant owned by Mex-Hawaiian Family but I run out of time.
In Honolulu I went dancing at the HILTON (I think. not sure now) and it was great. Local band was good.
yesterday, I was looking at youtube
2008 Hawaii Salsa Festival
looks like it's getting established now.
it was hard to find anything 4 or 5 years ago.
Salsa really took off worldwide when we developed the "L.A. style Salsa"
which is more technical, Stylized and Dynamic and Performance/show oriented since It was connected to the Mex-Am people in the Movie Industry and a lot of my friends are professional dancers and choreographers.
Did you see the movie "Dance with me"? with "Chayanne" and Vanessa Williams
Most of those people are friends of mine or acquaintances. That movie was made just as the Salsa Craze was just taking off and the movie made easy for it to get around the world. The "Salsa Congresses" Started happening soon after that.
Yeah, it is all Fun.
I'm Thinking of developing a Salsa Festival here in Las Vegas.
