about me
I am the founder of SixDegrees networking group targeted at diverse professionals in Las Vegas.

SixDegrees came to fruition in October of 2007 and surpassed over 200 members within it’s first year. Developed by Lauren Burke Bennett, a Human Resources consultant who saw a need for a professional networking group for a diverse audience.

Burke Bennett, who has over 15 years of grass roots and corporate staffing experience, has a knack for connecting people. The concept of SixDegrees was to connect people much like infamous Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn. SixDegrees provides the platform for Las Vegas professionals to connect with one another but also provides a social aspect. SixDegrees hosts monthly Cocktails & Connections mixers where professionals can mingle with each other over a cocktail. “I’m trying to revolutionize the idea of the traditional interview. I want to take away the stuffiness of the office environment and introduce candidates to employers in a casual space for them to truly be able to showcase their personalities.” The key is to get employers who value diversity to come out to these events and meet potential candidates.

SixDegrees is on the top 40 list of Minority groups on LinkedIn, . Join the SixDegrees Network of over 200 professionals at the website below and be invited to the next event;

Hello Lauren,
I was wondering about your networking group SixDegrees and seing if there are still events and gatherings being held in order to meet interesting and motivated individuals. I hope that your network is in full operations and doing well. I look forward hearing from you!

I hope you feel better soon. I actually just recently dropped out of Capella to pursue my doctorate from the University of Phoenix instead. I was unhappy with Capella's courses mostly because they were more into the reasearching and scientific type of degree than what I was looking for. After attending my first colloquium I felt that Capella wasn't for me. I got a flyer in the mail shortly after that informing me of UOP's Advanced Studies degrees one of them being a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership and after discussing and weighing my options I chose to attend UOP for the remainder of my studies...not to mention it was $30K cheaper than Capella and I would be done in 3-5 years vs. 5-7 years.
