- My picture is on the left. the guy on the right is my younger brother, who is a registered nurse in Detroit, MI.
I am 35 years old, born and raised in East Detroit, MI, and currently reside in a local urban center northwest of Detroit. I lived and taught in Kansas City, Kansas before relocating back to Michigan.
I learned alot in Kansas City, where I taught students with autism while coaching and mentoring general education students at the middle school level in a very diverse environment.
I embrace and appreciate perspective and insight, and approach life from an anti-racist perspective. My experiences, traumatic and enlightening, have given me an optimistic perspective that make me who I am today.

- I am a devoted, professional, special education teacher and advocate for urban public education. I aspire to be a culturally competent rehabiliatation counselor and school counselor.

- I speak polite Spanish, and read a little better than I speak.

- I have only lived in the United States.

- My connections are primarily professional. I have personal relationships with my neighbors (Puerto-Rican) and the parents of my students (Mexican).
I have Mexican connections from my youth that contribute to my passion for multiculturalism- though our only thing in common to date is our past, respectfully.
