Profile Information

about me
I'm a part Hispanic, part Anglo award-winning novelist. I was born and raised in Oklahoma, but now live in Washington State. I have just released my sixth book--Boogie, Boots & Cherry Pie--this one is only available on Kindle and Nook.
I'm married to a corporate bankruptcy specialist so, with this economy, I have lots of time to write! My first three novels, my Turtle Trilogy, are based on my Hispanic family. Lately, I've been writing humorous romances because they make me laugh. I have a new literary novel coming out in 2012-13.
what is your current, past or ideal job title?
I've been a writer for years, but have some experience in ladies-ready-to-wear,antique sales, and magazine marketing. I've also done a lot of community work and served on at least four boards in my county.
what languages do you speak?
what countries have you lived in?
The United States
what's your Hispanic connection?
My family on my mother's side is Hispanic.

Family histories & journals...

How are you all doing on getting your family histories together? You haven't even started, have you? Maybe you could take one step at a time. To begin, just open a file on your computer, and title it family history and photos. Then, just start dumping stuff in. You can sort it all out later!

Identify those photos!

How are you all doing on that memoir I asked you to write? (See earlier post). I know. You haven't even started yet. Okay, at least do this: open a computer file and start throwing info into it so everything will at least all be in the same place!

And please, please! identify the people in that shoebox full of photos you have in the closet. The history of a family is an important part of the legacy you'll someday leave for your family.

I know, I know, I'm nagging. I should do…

Leave your footprint!

I'm a writer, so I hope you'll keep that in mind and indulge me. Hold out your arm so I can twist it. What I want you to do is write your memoir. Do it for your family. Do it for your country. Don't worry about the grammar details, just do it! Someday, your family members will treasure it. As for doing it for your country, we're not famous, but we should document our path to the United States, our service to our country, our parents journey, etc.
I'm just sayin'...Janelle

Need a stocking stuffer?

Dear Friends, my last paperback book,Custer and His Naked Ladies, would make a good stocking stuffer. It has a gorgeous cover and Hispanic characters based upon my mother and her sisters. A lot of Latino books seem to focus on politics, but this story is a fictional family saga about a Hispanic family in the Southwest. It's the type of book women will enjoy. Check out the info on Amazon.com. Many thanks, and Happy Holidays!

Oh! I should tell you that Naked Ladies are flowers that the old… Continue

Speed Spanish, anyone?

I've been keeping busy writing my books, but I found time to get into some real trouble with an online Speed Spanish course. I thought I could learn a little and have some fun. I thought it would be a piece of cake. Well, it was--yellowcake (nuclear waste). This instructor was serious! Somehow, when I read Speed Spanish, my brain translated it to Party Spanish. Not!

What to do? What to do? Well, I did get through the course, and pulled an A+, but my brain deletes languages fifteen… Continue

Hi Janelle,
It's ok. I am glad you enjoyed Easter and that you are enjoying the project you are currently working on. Do let me know how it turns out, if you want to.
The email idea is good. My email is sanchezco08@live.com
I just finished the book on the Mediterranean diet and started reading Wings. It is more of a fantasy young adult novel. I decided to take a little break from my serious reading. Some easy reading is sometimes just needed to relax the mind. :)
Feel free to email me. I will try to respond ASAP.
Enjoy the rest of the week. :)

I have not read The Help, I think I will check it out!
Recently I read Pride and Prejudice, The call of the Wild, Little Women, a psychological study on killing (since i am a criminal justice major), and The Idiot's Guide to The Mediteranean Diet.
I do not really have a specific genre of books that I like. I like variety and will give anything a try, really.
Oh, do you still need help with that Spanish?

This is ringing a bell. It must be in a box in storage. I hope we'll be in the new house before the end of June, and I'll find it when we unpack.

On second thought, I have a vague recollection about seeing a book by you. What is more likely is that it came when we were packing up the house. It is probably in a box in the storage POD and i won't find it again until July. Sorry.

Did you send me a book? House nice of you. I wonder if it is lost in the postal system. I have not received it. I put change of address in with them, but i swear they don't really forward your mail.
To which address did you send it?
