I'm glad to hear that you will be out here soon, I look forward to meeting you. And unfortunately it is true, it is all about who you know, not what you know. But you can over come that, I am not a native Hawaiian and I have only been here about a year and a half and I was able to make my way. I'm glad you contact me, I am the secretary for Latin Business Hawaii and we are a great support group that will allow you to do a lot of networking and meet some really great people. There are also a good amount of staffing agencies here that can help you find a job. Hawaii's job market seems to be doing better than the mainland thus far, but it doesn't mean that the economy won't catch up to the island. Do you know when you will be here? Check out these agencies, they may be able to find something for you. Altres, Bishop & Co., Express Employment (Lisa 808-525-5225). Also try USAjobs, there is a lot of opportunity for government jobs. If you need anything, please feel free to call me.
