Gianni Truvianni’s “New York’s Opera Society”

My name is Gianni Truvianni; American by birth as I was born in New York City. Home to the “Metropolitan Opera House” which is without a doubt one of the greatest opera houses in the world along with so many others that I will not even attempt to mention them in fear of leaving any out. However what I will mention is that it was the “New York Metropolitan Opera House” along with the social life and grand music that surround this bastion of culture that inspired my novel “New York’s Opera Society”.

Regarding my knowledge of opera and classical music this I must confess that though what I feel is passion; I am but limited to playing the role of “serious aficionado” or what I would categorize as such. I only knowing what I do from the books I have read along with having spent the last ten years of my life listening exclusively to classical music and opera on DVD as well as “Mezzo”. “Mezzo” being a French channel which broadcasts classical music, opera and Jazz 24 hours a day. Listening at home conversely is not what I have limited myself to as I have also in recent years become a regular at Warsaw’s opera house (Teart Wielki) where I have seen just about every opera production offered from “Carmen” (Bizet) to “La Traviata” (Verdi). This last opera serving as the inspiration to my story “The Little Opera Singer” which is the tale of my daughter’s first opera outing and can be found on my website www.new-york-society.com.

An Encounter With The Bolshoi Ballet

An article written concerning all the events in my life that led me to become a fan of the ballet and to an encounter with the world famous Bolshoi ballet in Santiago, Chile.

I as many who have read my articles may gather am a tremendous opera fan though in all sincerity I can not claim to be an equal devotee of the ballet, however this should not be interpreted that I do not take joy from it. Perhaps it is because my tastes lean more to the passion of the singers and the drama in the opera rat… Continue

Maradona, Simply Great (Part Two)

This tournament was an important point in Maradona’s career as he was no longer a novelty but one to take in series consideration as perhaps the world’s best in the same category as the greats of that time that included Rummenigge, Keegan, Zico, Platini, Rossi and a few others though none of them in their teens like he was. However with praise also came fear of what he could do on the field, this meaning that from that tournament on every time he stepped on to the field he was literally a marked… Continue

Maradona, Simply Great

An article about Diego Armando Maradona, one of the greatest to ever play the game of football and though some may dislike him while others adore him; most would have to say he was definitely one of the top ten players of all times.

When I first started watching football back in 1977 and the time that lead up to the World Cup played in 1978 in Argentina, I apart from becoming a great fan of the sport learnt the basics as to what was the game of football. By the “basics” I mean not just learning… Continue

Argentina In The World Cup

Memories Of Argentina Vs. The Netherlands 78

An article about the first World Cup final I ever saw played live, between Argentina and the Netherlands. This in fact being the first time I witnessed the excitement of a final encounter in any sport.

The year was 1978, in the month of June in the summer though in Argentina where the world cup was taking place the season was winter. This making it necessary for the players to wear long sleeve shirts, in what up till now has been the last time the… Continue
