Gianni Truvianni’s “New York’s Opera Society”

My name is Gianni Truvianni; American by birth as I was born in New York City. Home to the “Metropolitan Opera House” which is without a doubt one of the greatest opera houses in the world along with so many others that I will not even attempt to mention them in fear of leaving any out. However what I will mention is that it was the “New York Metropolitan Opera House” along with the social life and grand music that surround this bastion of culture that inspired my novel “New York’s Opera Society”.

Regarding my knowledge of opera and classical music this I must confess that though what I feel is passion; I am but limited to playing the role of “serious aficionado” or what I would categorize as such. I only knowing what I do from the books I have read along with having spent the last ten years of my life listening exclusively to classical music and opera on DVD as well as “Mezzo”. “Mezzo” being a French channel which broadcasts classical music, opera and Jazz 24 hours a day. Listening at home conversely is not what I have limited myself to as I have also in recent years become a regular at Warsaw’s opera house (Teart Wielki) where I have seen just about every opera production offered from “Carmen” (Bizet) to “La Traviata” (Verdi). This last opera serving as the inspiration to my story “The Little Opera Singer” which is the tale of my daughter’s first opera outing and can be found on my website www.new-york-society.com.

A trio of poems dedicated and inspired by the Mexican painter “Leonor Razo”; who through her fiery character and tender ways has allowed me to see the true nature of the country which directly boarders mine to the south. In my poems however I have chosen the nam… Continue

Polish Influence In Peru

An article about my off chance encounter with a Polish speaker in Peru and all the Polish influence I saw in this country that has very little connection to Poland.

As a photographer, there was always something I enjoyed about taking photographs on the street, and I speak not of only monuments or buildings which compose the landscape of a city but of what I would hail as the “life of the city”. By this it is the people and their activities of going about that I have in mind, for it is there tha… Continue

Melba And The Half Orange

An article about another one of those many little places spread through out the world in which I chose to spend a good deal of my time and met someone nice.

There are places that through out our lives simply attract and make us want to go back, or at least when ever we find ourselves in the city in which they are located in, almost as if a visit to that particular city would not be complete without a stop over at that special corner. In what has been my life up and till this point there have be… Continue
