This group meets on a monthly basis as you probably know. There are other groups that also meet monthly. Ivan knows them all! We also have a BNI networking group which meets every Tuesday from 11:30 AM till 1:00 PM at Sweet Basil restaurant in Far N Dallas. Trinity Mills and Midway. BNI is run more like a business so that referrals are generated amongst members as opposed to more of a social gathering. Let me know if you are interested in the BNI group and I'll give you details.
After I forwarded your LinkedIn profile to Steve, I got his response below. He is holding a meeting/networking event on Nov. 3. for the Conservative Hispanic Society. He jokes about it by saying that, as long as you are either hispanic or conservaive, you are welcome. I will be attending as well to that meeting.
"I saw that. Is there anyway you can bring him to the meeting on Nov 3rd or to one of the other networking things so I can chat with him in person?"

I see that you have lots of experience in IT. If you have an account in LinkedIn, feel free to add me so I can forward your information to a good contact of mine that, according to him, is hiring a lot of people for IBM.
I've been in real estate for a while now but my background is in IT, too. I try to never loose touch with the community.
Best regards,
