about me
My job is to be part of a facilitative group dedicated to exceeding social expectations on a daily and proactive basis. I look forward to the endless opportunities a diverse organization like this one offers and in the process of building long term relationships, I will make myself available in a team environment as a constructive and highly motivated team player in meeting our common goals & objectives as set out by the National Society for Hispanic Professionals. Furthermore, I would love the opportunity to apply my bilingual skills as necessary to accommodate any needs a stakeholder may have to facilitate a positive and encouraging experience.
what is your current, past or ideal job title?
I am currently working on connecting my home church, Antioch Progressive Church (7650 Amherst Street, Sacramento, CA 95832), to the Hispanic community of Sacramento County. As of 12/29/08, we officially launched a Hispanic oriented, bilingual ministry focused on helping recent arrivals to the Sacramento, CA area get better prepared to successfully meet the challenges they'd most likely face in their acclimation process. Our hope would be that if we can help equip persons wanting to find their place here in the US (or pick up tools they can take and share with others back home), then they can come and connect with us in a sustainable effort that promotes educational values. Can you imagine preparing people so that if they were to go back, they'd take with them abilities to care for themselves, their loved ones and their communities. From what I've personally experienced, most Mexican immigrants love their homes and their places of origin, but because of external forces, they are most often forced to seek a better life elsewhere. So, why not share education so that our overall societies can have a working chance at making a better life back home.

One of the items we'll be working on is ensuring that new arrivals stay connected with their loved ones back home. We can help with email, images, i-calls, letters, and so on ... all in an effort to provide good relations with all stakeholders. Also, we'll be working on free bilingual classes (English, Spanish, Spanglish ... It's all good!), writing skills, and so on ... If you'd like to be part of this ministry (email works just as well), please let me know. I like transparency, accountability and collaboration so that we can all come out ahead. There is a synopsis available if you'd like to know more about what God maybe doing in our Hispanic communities.

Pues, ya era time ... que tal :-)

I am a Christian disciple committed to connecting with other Hispanics as a way of sharing God's love for us all. As a direct result of my wanting to reflect His love in my life on a practical and often moment-to-moment basis, I have done tons of research on what God can do for us (and, of course, have wrestled with Him on frequent occasions) especially on the ways He comes into circumstances without preconditions or judgements in an effort to show us His unconditional love. To this end, I have also become very aware of the perceptions (and/or preconceived notions) some people have about Christianity and religion as a whole ... so, if you'd like to know more about anything related to how God works things out to our benefit or have questions regarding Biblical passages and / or scripture, please let me know by posting them here. If there is enough interest, maybe we can post some of your questions, comments and possible insights on more proactively understanding Who God is in Christ and why we stand to gain more faith, love, acceptance, support, encouragement, and so on as we ask Him to come to know us.

In keeping it real, He is faithful ... by personal accounts, I shouldn't even be here!! But, I am ... and now, I sure as there is a 'heck' won't let one day go by without responding to His call to be more reflective in my daily lifestyle activities when dealing with anything life tosses my way.

In reality, religion is simply a way for us to gain favor from God. A personal relationship with Jesus, though, is a way of accepting the current snapshot of our lives and then asking for His forgiveness, which then leads to having His assistance to move on according to His will and purpose for us all. We can't do this alone, and He knows it. As a matter of fact, before the creation of time and space, He knew we'd be meeting here. Wow!!

Thank you all so much for your support and may God bless your day :-)

Peace!

Hi Eddie

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am happy to report that I completed my MBA last fall. There were many reason for my decision to get an MBA but at the top of the list was knowing that that this would be a multi-faceted contribution to the Latino community. I knew that I could have the opportunity to be a role model (many more are needed) and be able to encourage others to pursue higher education. I am now involved with NSHMBA and I am contributing to their upcoming LEAD Conference by handling the logistics of their Professional Development Track. It is so nice to be involved with organizations where we have the common goal of encouraging and guiding Latinos to exercise their potential.

Take care.

Hola Eddie,

Me encantó Michoacán!

Y me alegra escuchar del proyecto! Inglés, Castellano, Spanglish, lo que sea! Que todo el mundo aprenda a comunicar con respeto, compasión y entendimiento, de un corazón a otro!
