Profile Information

about me
I will provide my vitae with detail information about myself; what follows is a brief summary about me.

I received my Doctorate Degree from the Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy, May 2009. I am a National Science Foundation IGERT Fellow Alumni. My areas of concentration are Environmental Policy and International Development Policy. My dissertation research involves the assessment of high reliability performance in disaster management agencies using selected factors to measure performance. My other area of research interest is the disproportionate placement of landfills and chemical industries in minority communities (African American and Hispanic).
In addition, I have a vast background in the areas of environmental science, analytical chemistry, and public policy. I have worked in the chemical industry for 15 years and the environmental regulatory industry for 8 years. I have two Master of Science degrees, one in Environmental Chemistry/Science and the other in Analytical Chemistry. I have experience teaching American Government, Geography, and Chemistry on the undergraduate level.
It is my intentions to bring to the classroom first-hand knowledge from three perspectives: (1) chemical industry, (2) environmental regulatory industry, and (3) public policy and political science arena, specifically the environmental, international development, and sustainable futures, to name a few. This will give the student an opportunity to see policymaking-decision issues from the point of view of each stakeholder and will enable them to understand how these stakeholder influence policy implementation and whether the program, project, or legislation is successful or not in meeting its objectives put into place at the onset.
I am very excited about my future career in academia and to be honest with you this is the goal for which I have spent my life preparing for. It is my desire to join the faculty at this great University. Please retain my information for future positions, in the event this application has arrived to later for consideration for this position. Thank you in advance for your consideration now and/or in the future.
