Off health subject. "The End of Rain" a novel by J.P. Garcia release date is mid December. For all of you martial arts dudes and babes, there are some good fights in the novel. Look for Kempo, Muy Thai and BBJ applications.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. Here is a nutritional tip that my trainer shared with me! Here is what she said when we all worry about how to eat when dining out.

Nutritional Tip

I found this great website www.HealthyDiningFinder.com it allows you to search for restaurants offering a selection of healthier menu options and view the nutrition data for selected items. You can search for area restaurants or a specific restaurant. You can also choose your price range.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share this inspirational story from my instructor Veronica Cruz, I am doing so good. I started second week of bootcamp and I love it!!

As for me this weekend I have to say I overcame a great fear! On Sunday I completed my second Sprint Triathlon. I say second because this was my third attempt but only my second time to finish. If you don’t know the story here it is in a snap: my second Sprint Triathlon I failed to finish because I freaked in the water and got a cramp.

Well I decided that same day to sign up for the next one, same course, same location, 4 weeks later. I was so upset at not been able to finish that I told myself, I’ve got to do the next one and prove myself that I can do this. Well it definitely shook my confidence. I had the worst nightmares the day before and every day I went to the Open Water trainings I would freak as soon as I was not able to touch the bottom. I woke up that morning and I told my husband I am not doing it. He was also participating and he said just go out there and at least try. My fear was so great that I was so close to quitting and not even trying. I was wishing I would have overslept so I at least had an excuse for not trying. But with the support of my husband and my friends I decided to try. The physical part was not the problem, I knew I could do it I had done it before, but I was letting my fear get the best of me. My fear of getting another cramp and not being able to swim and yes ultimately drown. At the last second I decide to try, as I made it to the first buoy I said to myself just one more buoy so I try harder and after getting to know every buoy and kayak I realized I had I made it out of the water! I was so excited after that, that I gave it my all. I am NOT proud of the time it took me to complete the Triathlon but I AM proud to say I overcame my fear. That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. Of course I was able to do this because of all the support from everyone that was cheering me on! So next time you think about giving up DON’T, think positive and try your best, you will be more disappointed if you never tried.

Camper Pass Along Tip

Marie from the Evening Camp gave me a great tip for the veggies. I had heard of the Debbie Mayer green bags but I had never tried them. Well Marie has and she says they are great. She can definitely see a difference on her fruits and veggies.

Fitness Tip

How can I tell if I should try harder at workout?

The general rule of thumb on this is that if you can carry a full conversation you should be trying harder. In boot camp we work in intervals, you should take your intensity to the point where you become breathless and then bring down the intensity.

So let say that you are doing a weight training circuit, your heart rate will get up pretty high if the weight is right and you speed up the repetitions. A circuit should be done back to back without breaks then followed by some cardio. When you are sent to do a run or jacks or burpees this does not mean REST it means do your best then take a break.

You will never be in breathless mode for more than a minute but IT IS OK to get to the breathless point, that is the whole point of Boot Camp :o)

Motivational Tip

Today is my evaluation and tommorow is my fitness test and this will be done again towards the end of camp as well. Look online at www.adventurebootcamp.com to find one in your area. I feel sore but I love the exercises!

Marie,

now regarding crossfit

I am still in the conditioning stage and it kicks my butt every time, however, it is great because i am getting stronger and my body is shrinking. my weight remain the same but my pants are getting loose a size 33.

I am very proud of myself and I am looking for new challenges that motivate me to keep on going.

we will see.

take care

:)
