What is PR?

Public relations (PR) is the practice of managing the flow of information between an organization and its publics.Public relations - often referred to as PR - gains an organization or individual exposure to their audiences using topics of public interest and news items that do not require direct payment. Because public relations places exposure in credible third-party outlets, it offers a third-party legitimacy that advertising does not have.Common activities include speaking at conferences, working with the press, and employee communication.
PR can be used to build rapport with employees, customers, investors, voters, or the general public.Almost any organization that has a stake in how it is portrayed in the public arena employs some level of public relations.

An Award Winning Campaign....I have found that most of Public Relations is based on results..(from a client perspective)..well we just wrapped up our Pizzas 4 Patriots campaign and I must say the results were astronomical....This campaign went from May 16th to July 4th...The results are in....Television Segments nationally=195.....Radio Mentions nationally= 268....Print Nationally=145 articles written ..This campaign garnered over 75.4 Million Dollars in Publicity value...Now that's an award winning campaign!!! Great Job Utopia!!!

Latinos Love Football!!!..
It is now a proven fact , supported by expensive research and now documentation that Latino's watch football...WOW!!! Some marketing guru finally figured out that there's money in this demograph (Hispanics)..By the way I remember watching the Greenbay Packers with my papi in the 60's...I was actually his first remote control...anytime he wanted the channel changed he would tap me on my head and say "lets see what's on channel 5" and I'd get up and change the channel.I guess we were trend setters and we didn't even know it!!! Anyway back to my issue!!....So now the NFL joined forces with who else...Univision to embark on a new web-frontier called NFLatino....It's about time!!!

Elliot. Thank you for your comment. It is true what you say and I am going to use it when presenting with my potential customers. The promotion ends at the end of June though and I don't know what VZW future plans are for the Latino Community. Have a wonderful Memorial weekend! Marina

Marina,
Sounds like your doing customer retention work to me.Obviously Verizon needs your expertise to help them build relationships to retain current or engage future customers...I can't see this huge corporation (that i worked for in the past) actually developing or building anything other than a customer base!! You and everyone else at Verizon are part and parcel of thier bottom line.$$$$

Happy Friday to you too! The job I am doing with Verizon Wireless is pure PR., how do I make my customers understand that PR is different from sales? I understand that we are always selling something even ourselves, but when I approach a customer for the first time it is so hard for them to believe that a company just want to develop a relationship with their clients and/or future ones. Do I make sense? Marina

Happy Friday Professionals....
Although my week has been hectic, I feel a sense of accomplishment as I try to feel at the end of every week....I have learned that If I'm going to keep doing what I enjoy most(PR)...I need to be transparent in my work ethics and my duties...I have nothing to hide!! And I expect nothing less from my employees!!

Good Monday To All,
The PR lifestyle is one that is most definately an acquired taste..Utopia is growing so fast I'm amazed daily...when it gets too much to handle I ask myself "Do I really want to do this?"...and my answer is always"YES"..I love what I do for a living....to me it is not a JOB...it is my Passion!! My suggestion to you is "Find your Passion" and you won't even have to try to do it well...it'll just happen!!

Happy Monday to you all!!! I am so glad I read this discussion. It could not have come at a better time. My 5yo daughter asked me the other day, what is beautiful and handsome? She said a pretty girl or a nice looking boy. I went further to explain to her that true beauty is on the inside. She said, Mom, we are all blood and bones on the inside, how is that beautiful. I explained that being smart and knowing God gave each of us gifts and talents makes us beautiful and handsome. I am glad that she understands that. On another note, according to U.S Census Bureau, we will be the majority in 2014. God Bless and Have a blessed week everyone!
