Just thought I would stop by to say Hello to all my HR Colleagues.

No problem Jacqueline, Yes, challenge your knowledge. Take practice test after practice test. Reinforce what you know and go back and review what you need. As I mentioned earlier, it's not really a true measure of your HR knowledge. If you've been working in the field, you already have a great deal of HR knowledge. The vast majority of the "specialist" I know, did not score highest in their respective areas--isn't that interesting. So approach this with an open mind and consider yourself a HR professional and contributor obtaining her credentials. The very best of luck, you'll do well!

Welcome Moses!

Hey All, It is very exciting to join a group such as this one. I am very excited to know about the members as well as you get to know about me. I currently work in an HR manager/Assistant Director position for a prestigious hotel in the heart of Silicon Valley. Human Resources has been a true career and quite a journey at this stage in my career. I have enjoyed every moment, every experience, and everyone who has taken the time to train me in this very complex but satisfying field.

Hello all: My name is Orlando. I just joined this site and I'm exploring it's resources. Happy to have found you! I have a clinical background and made a career transition into HR @ 3 years ago. Prior to that, I had a dotted-line position to HR as I functioned as an internal coach at a healthcare insitution. I was laid off in June of 08 and I'm currently interviewing. If anyone has any leads, please, by all means... I wanted to comment to Jacquline @ the PHR exam. Yes, it's intense but it's certainly obtainable. I actually took it twice. I had a lot going on the first time around and missed it by 2 points. I did feel that the test questions were not at all similar to the material I studied--I took a HRM class sponsored by SHRM. My approached the second time around was much more laid-back---que sera, sera kind of attitude. For 10 days prior, all I did was take practice test after test and went back and studied only the areas that I did not do well in. Once I exhausted the SHRM practice test, I went on line and purchased other test. I found the on line test and the scoring process to be extreamly helpful. I don't quite remember the actual website I went on, but if your interested, do a web PHR/SPHR practice test search. They actual let you take a sample test first. As I recall, they were not expensive and it was money well spent. Good luck, you'll do fine. If at first, you don't get the 500 points you need to pass, keep trying until you do. Remenber, it not really a test of your "actual" HR knowledge. You already know all you need to know about HR.
Cheers!
