Stay tuned for future networking opportunities!

The DFW Hispanic Networking Group on National Society of Hispanic Professionals.org has an overall goal of facilitating meaningful networking opportunities for those with business interests within our Latino community. Dallas / Fort Worth Latino and non Latino's with vested interests in our communities are always welcome to attend our periodic events. DFW strives to provide diverse, dynamic venues conducive for encouraging meaningful connections, sustaining a solid membership base, and enticing new participants. Our DFW networking events are designed for flexibility as attendees may arrive straight from work to relish drink specials, or later to enjoy dinner while networking leisurely with friends, and fellow professionals.

All are invited to join us for future evenings of fun, fellowship and cultivating relationships which may prove essential in both professional and personal realms. Whether it's finding prospective clients, gaining exposure for your business, exploring career options or just making new connections in our community, networking is something from which all may benefit. The old adage, ”it is not what you know, but who you know” takes on more meaning when the economy is on a downturn, as a personal referral will get YOU or YOUR BUSINESS to the front of the line!

We welcome all to look into joining NSHP “DFW” Chapter as a free tool to facilitate networking opportunities with DFW Latino professionals. By setting up an NSHP profile and joining "DFW" group, one has a tool for facilitating interactions through a secure venue with contacts throughout Dallas/Fort Worth without having to "FRIEND" strangers on Facebook. Finding fellow professionals is facilitated because even though one may not have a business card or even a complete name one may recognize a face that one may have had the pleasure of meeting at a previous event.

Please stay tuned for listings and invites for future activities where our "DFW" member's and area professional groups and associations may be networking!

DFW Hispanic Networking Group "On the Front Porch" NETWORKING EVENT SUMMARY:

DFW networking aficionados gathered on the front porch of the original La Calle Doce in Oak Cliff. Like in the "good ol’ days," neighborly interactions in the warm, breezy Texas fresh air, facilitated opportunities for Dallas professionals get to know one another with the intention of forging business connections based on trust and respect. Cold drinks, laughter and live guitar music created a cheerful backdrop reminiscent of those simpler times, especially since friends of friends, spouses and coworkers regardless of their business title were welcomed to the mix of professionals.

After initial mingling and networking on the front porch, dinner was served in the secluded courtyard allowing conversation without distractions at this very popular restaurant. There was an opportunity for attendees to get everyone's undivided attention to introduce themselves and their business or industry The award winning “Ceviche,” shrimp and seafood dishes seemed to be among the meals of choice for many of the attendees. After dinner, many chose to continue their networking opportunities over night caps and/or dessert. A strolling guitarist serenaded those who were lucky enough to stay a little later!
Overall, connections and potential business opportunities in our Hispanic communities as well as involvement with Latino culture initiatives were explored.

[The only restriction is not to use the site for contacting our members for unsolicited selling or promotion of your business. Your business will promote itself once you get to know the group and establish your professional network of contacts/friends! ]

All business professionals, friends, family or anyone else who may enjoy professional "social networking" while sharing a few laughs are welcome at any of our events!  Please feel free to see additional pictures of our events on my page at...

Earlier this week, we released a powerful video calling on CNN to drop Lou Dobbs from its network.1 We know it had an impact, because the next day, Dobbs complained about our campaign on his television show.2 Now it's time for Dobbs and CNN to hear from each of us, and we've made it easy for you to speak out. Here's how:

A portion of CNN's web site--called iReport--is dedicated to photos and videos submitted by everyday people like you. Whether you want Dobbs gone because of his anti-immigrant views or his faulty reporting in support of the "birther" movement, CNN's iReport is the perfect place to tell CNN how you feel.

Can you take a picture or shoot a short video letting CNN know what you think of Lou Dobbs? Our online tool makes it easy. If enough of us act, we can get other news outlets to cover the story, and force CNN to answer publicly for their Dobbs problem. Please click below to see photos and video that have already been sent in, and then add your voice.

Our campaign against Lou Dobbs comes at a crucial time for CNN, right before their broadcast of a new documentary series, "Latino in America." CNN's leadership knows that Latinos are the fastest-growing demographic in the United States, and that they need to attract Latino viewers in order to stay competitive. But when asked about Dobbs at LIA preview screenings over the past two weeks, CNN executives dodged the questions.

What Dobbs does nearly every night on his show is harmful to Latinos, and CNN broadcasting "Latino in America" doesn't make up for it. If CNN truly respects Latinos, the network should stop making money off of Dobbs' hate. Let's tell CNN: You can't have it both ways.

If CNN executives see enough of us organized and taking action to hold them accountable, they will have to think long and hard about whether Lou Dobbs makes sense for their business. Please join us in calling out CNN for continuing to give Lou Dobbs a platform for his hateful rhetoric about immigrants and Latinos. And please ask your friends and family to do the same. It just takes a few minutes:
