Hispanic professional society & diversity job fairs at NSHP.org

My friends,

In an effort to maximize our relationship-building within our NSHP Las Vegas Chapter family, I invite you to introduce yourself and share a little background: business interests, professional goals, business needs, professional services offered, etc. Also, please share what you feel the role NSHP should play in our community.

I believe that with everyone's assistance and participation, we can develop our chapter and bring a wealth of opportunities to many of our own. Let's combine our professional relationships to build a stronger future for all of us!

My name is Carlos Silva was born in Chama, New Mexico but grew up in Mexico, CA and NV. Have been in Henderson since 1983 and graduated from Basic High School in Henderson. Spent 9.5 years in the US Army, 4 years as a carpenter in NV working mainly in casinos and 9.5 years as a real estate salesman. Have been focusing on real estate investments for the past 3 years. Also, have a passion to serve and make a positive difference in people's lives. My goal is to become financially secure and focus on non-profit service, especially to help high school students in at risk neighborhoods and low-moderate families achieve the "American Dream" of home ownership. NSHP should be a platform to build relationships to help the community and each other as well. We can also provide a source of referrals for the community to work with reputable, ethical, honest and professional businesses.
Thank you, Carlos, for your input and participation. Please continue to spread the word to your friends and family and invite them to join our networking community. Only through active promotion and aggressive recruitment can we establish NSHP as an effective online medium for Latino professionals wishing to expand their professional network. ADELANTE!

You are welcome!

Have sent an invitation this evening to 75 Las Vegas bilingual colleagues. I am sure the chapter will grow in no time at all. Another way we can grow faster is by doing community service projects and doing a press release through the media. We can talk about it if you so desire. Are you planning to have an admin/board in the chapter? Let me know if you need help with anything. Take care and have a good evening!

How is the mixer plans going? Let me know if you need some assistance with that as well.

Amigos y Amigas,

My name is Rafael Topete and I was born in Atenguillo, Jalisco, Mexico; raised in East Los Angeles; graduated from John Marshall High School in Rocherster, MN; received my BA in Sociology, with emphasis in Urban Sociology and Chicano Studies from Pomona College in Claremont, CA and Teaching Certifiate (Credentials) from California State University Los Angeles; and ended up in Las Vegas 3 years ago when I took the position of Director for Upward Bound Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas... and a partridge in a pear tree! phhheew!

I have been in Education for over 17 years and have loved every minute of it. I currently work with low-income, first generation potential college students in preparing them for College. I look forward to networking and mutualy assisting each other as we embark in our endevours. I also look foward to meeting individuals that would like to speak/present during our career day activities in the Summer or do workshops for our students throughout the year.
My name is Myrna Medina; I was born in Monterrey Mexico and leaved in CA for over 30 years. A job opportunity brought me to Las Vegas 16 years ago and have loved it ever since. I enjoy assisting students with their academics and take the opportunity to talk to them about their future. I try to be a role model to young Hispanics, specifically the non English speakers, as I was once in their shoes. I enjoy my job because I find it rewarding and challenging. I look forward to meeting other Latino professionals because I too believe in building a stronger future for all of us!

My name is Arturo Carlos Lewin, am originally from Chile. Grew up very poor. Mud house, dirt floor & all. Came to United States ILLEGALLY in 1977 and I am one lucky guy...

And, this is my story...

I have been selling things since I was 12... During high school I started selling $1250 vacumm cleaners door to door(to date the hardest job I have ever had), then at 19, I sold water filters with a multi level marketing co. and crated a downline of over 200 salespeople with over $1Million in annual sales. By 20, I was selling the 1st Alphanumeric pagers for Metagram America a fortune 500 co with over 3000 sales people. I was consistantly their Top Producer Nationwide....thats when I ran across a Custom Clothier that totally impressed me with his Clothes, Cars, Homes, Penthouses & Vegas trips.. And,I have been in the Custom Clothing business ever since 1989.

I started with a company called Perkas Custom Clothiers in Woodland Hills, CA. 2 1/2 years later we became partners & started AvenueExecutive Clothiers in Encino, CA. 3 years later we decided to go our ways. For the next 3 years...I was recruited by Custom Shirt Shops, about 88 stores nationwide. I managed their Beverly Hills store. Then I joined Montalvo on Montana in Santa Monica, CA. I was in charge of all sales, tailors &staff. Their specialty was catering to some of the biggest movie stars today & I was lucky enough to have had that opportunity to meet some of Hollywoods biggest stars. I was recruited by Tom James Clothiers. To date they are still the largest custom clothing company in the world. About $500 million dollars in annual sales. I was a Tom James Co top 3 worldwide producer almost from the start.

And, in April 2, 1997. I started Art Lewin Clothiers.
Today we are one of the leading custom clothiers in the country. We plan, coordinate & maintain your wardrobe so you are perfectly attired for any occassion. We have been dressing executives for over a decade. And, as a second-generation clothier our clients tell us that our workmanship, knowledge ∓ service makes it readily apparent why we have been able to establish such a loyal following.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my story..if you want to know more just ask..art@artlewin.com

Fashionably yours,

Art Lewin

Good Morning Vegas!! My name is Marie Castro. In addition to what is in my profile, I am group admin for the NSHP DFW chapter which I take alot of pride in. I love helping people and my community and was very honored when asked if I'd like to be a group admin. I am very compassionate about helping people reach their goals and the feedback and response I get as well from others, gaining and building friendships as well as business contacts. My mom works for the Dallas Area Agency on Aging(which helps with MEALS ON WHEELS, CHIPS, MEDICAID, ETC.) She has been doing this over 32years and has become overwhelmed so now I am her voice as she puts it. I am also member of Hispanic Women's Network of TX. Anything else you want to know please feel free to ask.
My name is Nerlie Walter. I was born in Haiti. I have been in Las Vegas for about 4 years now. We came here to try to make a difference. After law school, my fiance had the opportunity to work for a big law firm, but he turned it down to help the less fortunates. We started our own immigration law practice almost 3 years ago. I have to work 2 jobs to pay our bills, because I want my Fiance to focus on making a difference instead of making a profit. Our clients are honest people who just want to provide a better life, future to their families. A lot of them have lost their jobs, so we do a lot of pro-bono work. Even though we're not making a profit, we get a bigger reward that money just can't buy. I believe we were put on this planet to help our brothers and sisters out. We are all interconnected, it is our duty to make this world a better place. We can't just preach it anymore. We must act, do something productive, do something to put a smile on a stranger's face. We should not point the finger anymore, unless it is pointed at ourselves. This is the only way we can change the world. Please join me in changing this world.
My Name is Richard Carrillo, I was born and raised in Belen, New Mexico. After graduating from Belen High School I went to Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona where I graduated at the top of my class. I soon moved to Las Vegas where I have been a resident for over 22 years now.

I worked in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Service Trade from Service Technician to Service Manager and eventually my own business Which I am still a License Contractor thru the State of Nevada. I put in alot of hours that took alot of time away from my family, and having a young daughter at home I felt it was not fair to her or my wife, so I decided to go to work for a Union service company where I soon became the Service Manager and not long after that went to work for the Plumbers, Pipefitters and Service Technicians Local 525 as A Business Representative in charge of Marketing and Green Technologies.

My passion is volunteering which I do thru my Local Union repairing Air Conditioning and Heating systems for senior citizens on a fixed incomes that cannot afford to pay to get them repaired.

Another part of my volunteering involves my local neighborhood where I have live in for the past 13 years.
I am the President of my homeowners association and was recently re-elected to serve another two years. Last November I was appointed to the Whitney Town Advisory board by County Commisioner Rory Reid

Also in the past few years I have become politically active, being the Assistant Chairman of Local 525's Political Action Committee and doing this has also inspired me to not just trying to make positive changes in my neighborhood but in my state as well.
That is why I am running for Assembly District 18 a seat that was held by Mark Manendo who has term limited out and being that I have his support only increases my opportunity to help on a state level.
Hello all fellow members, My name is Chuck Hernandez, I am a REALTOR here in Las Vegas, I am associated with JR Realty Henderson NV, I am actively net working with many different people, CEOs and High profile Companies and I'm hoping that you will accept me in your group as a fellow net worker, I am also a real estate investor, buying and selling apartment houses throughout Southern Nevada, I also invite investors to participate in both debit and/or equity investments, all investors have choices of earning passive or Linear income, passive is silent income, it comes in monthly with no work on your part, Liner income is when you trade in your time for the income. I know that many of you are real PROs, and Ambitious, I do not sell any thing, if you truly want to interact with me you basically must qualify, and the qualifications are easy they are that you truly are sincere, that you truly have a desire for your wants weather it be a business success or for betterment, honesty, you must be honest, good traits such as punctuality, etc, etc, etc...You would be surprise at the high number of people that fail these simple rules, but even if you fail I still will count you as a friend because you deserve it, you are here because of your desire to be better. I myself have many faults that I have carried throughout my life. Faults that I will continue to carry till the day I die. Some smart man once said know thy self, To this day I'm still learning that truth. I would like for you fellow members to contact me to see where we can help each other, nothing may come of it but who knows, it could turn out to be the luckiest move you ever made, I know many people from different industries that I’m sure some of you can capitalize on, or I can steer you in the right direction.
Chuck Hernandez
