Hola Amigos y Amigas! My name is Caesar Gutierrez and I am a buyer in the Purchasing and Supply Management unit of VSP (Vision Service Plan). I am in charge of printing and promotional. I have been with VSP for over 12 years and absolutely love my job. I live in Sacramento with my wife of over 3 years. If anyone is ever in Sacramento, let me know and we can meet up and talk about how Hispanics are changing the landscape of this great state!

Que pasen buen dia!

The unfortunate side of politics is that they all seem to talk out of "both sides" of their mouth, and the real issues only seem to be hot topics to get them votes and somehow disappear once they get into office.

The Latino community is facing a major crisis in this country - more than any other community - in my opinion. Many of our elders and immigrants lack the guidance to get the help they need regarding health issues and rely on "snake oil potions" to treat their ailments. Many people peddle these products to them knowing that they can easily take advantage of the less educated ones amongst us. It is up to the healthcare professionals at all levels of the spectrum in our community to get the word out and get a true initiative going where our parents and grand parents can be informed. We can no longer rely on the politicians; we need to take care of our own.

Same thing for the housing crisis. In my line of work I come across too many heartbreaking stories of families who were completely mislead and uniformed about the type of mortgages they received and our now facing the devastating reality of being homeless. The American Dream was dangled in front of them and it is now being taken away. I'm just tired of Hispanics being the doormat the vultures in our society come to wipe their dirty feet on. Taking advantage of language barriers in the name of the almighty dollar.

I am a health insurance professional. I am concerned about the plans I hear from both Presidential candidates. Diabetes in Hispanic kids and adults is on the rise. So is heart disease for Latinas. Asthma in some areas. No one seems to talk about specific diseases and access to care for that. I deal with many Spanish speaking shoppers who have a really hard time with this. We need to raise awareness and educate each other.
