The Multimedia Services Technician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of various kinds of drop wire, ground wire, network interfaces, telephones, terminating devices, converters, splitters, antenna systems, inside wire and patch panels. Applying knowledge of telephony in wiring from the terminal/TAP/ONU up to and including the “set top box” and other termination points/outlets with in the customer’s residence and/or place of business. Planning and installing inside wiring.
Testing new and existing circuits and providing trouble free services inside wire and CPE.
Placing, removing or repairing wiring between poles, between poles and buildings, or between buildings. Splicing non-pressurized plastic insulation cables. Examining lines on which trouble has been reported and coordinating repair of lines with centralized testing facility of other designated employees. Interpreting service orders and/or work orders. Keeping detailed written record of all work activity. Maintaining positive customer relations by providing the customer with a clear explanation of how the product/service was installed or repaired and/or how the product/service works.
Maintaining positive company image through personal professionalism and effective interpersonal skills (even in dealing with disgruntled and argumentative customers) Evaluating customers’ communication needs and introducing/selling products and services to customers. Move and lift at least 100 pounds.
Required Skills and Experience:
May work in confined areas
Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors
Medical standards may be required
May be required to climb ladders and work aloft
May be required to move/lift a minimum of 100 pounds
Must meet weight restrictions to comply with OSHA/Company safety standards
Must meet attendance and punctuality standards.
Must posses a valid driver’s license.
Security background investigation may be required.
Must follow established safety practices and guidelines which include wearing safety glasses, hard hat and other safety attire, as required.
Must adhere to strict regulations and procedures for the security of Company property and funds.
Training:
Must comply with all required training requirements both formal and on-the-job. Length of training is dependent upon type of job duties to which assigned
Hours: Normally involves day, evening and night assignments, including weekends and holidays. Emergency call outs and overtime may be required. Willingness to work any days and any tours, required.
Preferred Experience:
Telephony Installation & Maintenance, pole climbing, running drops, outside loop electronics
Technical Diploma, Degree or Certificate in:
Electronics
Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil)
These are Full-time Regular positions WITH BENEFITS
SALARY
Wage: 15.37 - 21.68/hr
