What you will do
As the Health Officer you will lead the delivery of cutting-edge public health services to Oregonians by providing medical and evidence-based consultation and promoting prevention of leading causes of disease, death, and injury statewide. As a crucial key leader, the State Epidemiologist will serve as the senior scientist responsible for supporting the public health system at the state and local levels by providing direction and consultation about epidemiologic issues.
This key position will establish and maintain constructive and collaborative working relationships with public officials, coordinated care organizations, local and national governments, state legislature, academic partners, and community partners. You will play a key role in overseeing the State Health Improvement Plan and identify the final priorities for the 2020-2024 plan. The Health Officer/State Epidemiologist will serve as a conduit between the Oregon Health Authority, the Governor’s Office, the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, and other federal, state, and local partners.
