Hispanic professional society & diversity job fairs at NSHP.org

I recently returned to the Houston market where I accepted the VPHR position for a $500M junior oil conversion company. The company restructured and downsized. The restructuring impacted the C.E.O and members of his staff including my role

Prior to this role, I had been overseas for 3.5 years serving as the Area Director of Human Resources Maersk Line and Logistics in Central America and the Caribbean. I was responsible for establishing all Human Resource activities in the Central American and Caribbean Area. We built the operations to approximately 2,500 employees+ in 14 countries with a revenue growth of over 30% to $1.2B. The focus of the activity was to develop a performance driven culture that was customer-centric, across the entire area. I had responsbility for Mexico To Panama, Columbia, Equador and the Caribbean.

A good deal of my experience has been in consumer products as well as supporting international operations. These operations included manufacturing, sales, marketing, customer service and supply chain/logistics functions. I am conversational ability in Spanish.

Contact me with any leads for FT or contract/consulting assignments.

I'm by trade a computer network engineer. However, I got laid off in 2002---and at that point decided not ever work for a corporation again. It was hard to make a transition to another industry but I new it had to be done. I chose the industry of insurance and financial planning as my new arena. Doing sales was very weird and didn't like it. I spent 13 years of my life inside a computer room and to have to deal with the public was very uncomfortable. However, I am a problem solver by nature. I ask for help to my local insurance agent; I needed help breaking into the industry. I took a very hard look at my insurance agent and saw how comfortable he was during the times of economic hardship. That alone was enough to light my fire and make it happen. Today, I have my own financial planning practice---I can place insurance and investments. I created out of nothing a new future for me and my family. The best part is that I don't have to worry about getting fired or getting a stab in the back from a top exec.

What else do you like to do besides going back to corporate? What other industry conjugates with what you already know? Could you help insurance professionals reach HR departments to talk and place employee benefits?
