Brasil is the only latin american team to be competing in the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa. This tournament boasts only 8 teams, in this case 2 from Africa, 2 from Europe, 1 from Asia, 1 Oceania, North America and South America. So far Spain and Brasil seem to be the strongest teams and quite the contenders for the finals, but the African champion Egypt also appears very strong.
I believe the final will be Brasil and Spain, while the semi-finals will host Egypt and Iraq. As much as I like Italy, I just don't see them playing at their top game. Who do you think will win?
Wow - What can I say about team USA? First, they beat Egypt 3-0, which had proven to be a very tough adversary by almost tying with Brasil and defeating Italy. Secondly, USA qualifies thanks to the Italian defeat 0 - 3 against Brasil, and there you go! USA moves to the Semifinals.
After not facing any losses in their last 35 matches, Spain was the absolute favorite for the semifinal match against the USA. In fact, Spain had not allowed a single goal in the tournament. To a wonderful surprise, USA defeated Spain 2-0 and has now moved to the finals with another Latin American team, Brasil. The final match will be on Sunday, June 26, at 2.15pm. These teams already met in the first round, with Brasil defeating the USA, but its a whole different game now.
Finally Brazil won and I am very happy about it because I am of the opinion that this team is definitely the best in the world. I am already looking forward to the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. I hope it will be exciting and I would definitely like to be there and watch a game. So lets see if I get some tickets for it.
