Hispanic professional society & diversity job fairs at NSHP.org

The long awaited baseball post season is here, and as mentioned in TBS, "there's only one October." So turn away from the news detailing how damaged the economy is today and enjoy some great baseball - and cheer for your favorite teams and players as they make phenomenal plays.

I personally enjoy watching all players, but I really enjoy seeing the charisma and happiness Hispanic players bring to the field - players like David Ortiz (aka big papi) and Zambrano are always fun to watch.

Its also great to see how diverse the game has gotten, its not strange to see a dugout where you can find players from Cuba, Japan, USA, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Panama, and many more.

Here is the list of teams that made it to the post season, and who will battle it out in 2008:

Chicago White Sox
Tampa Bay Rays
Boston Red Sox
Anaheim Angels
LA Dodgers
Chicago Cubs
Milwaukee Brewers
Philadelphia Phillies

Go Red Sox! Who are you cheering for? Who are your favorite Hispanic players?

Growing up in a family where most of the members were male my sisters, female cousins and I had no choice but to learn how the "boys" games were played and learn to love them. Some of us did just that, some of us didn't care and some of us just learned to hate sports. What did I choose? I loooooooove sports! Not all of them thou, I really have not been able to get hooked on hockey. I'm a huuuuge basketball fan, always try to go to the NY Knicks games when possible and since my beloved Mets are not in the post season, I really don't have any team to cheer for. As far as my favorite Hispanic players goes, there's too many of them but the few that come to mind are Johan Santana, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Endy Chavez, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano, Manny Ramirez, Nomar GarciaParra...

Wow Rina, do you cook also?

Hey JP, having a grandmother like the one I had growing up I had to learn how to cook, clean, iron and all the things that make a senorita a good "housewife". Does that answer your question? As far as the last two teams who will face each other in the World Series, I'm going to say Tampa Bay and Phillies and hopefully Tampa Bay wins. It's personal now (The Mets are not in, someone has to pay for my broken heart :<) )

Rina, you are kidding, right?! Dodgers will definitely be in the final.
BTW, if you clean fish, then you are absolutely great! (Male humor)

Cleaning fish...Hmmm... Sorry to disappoint you JP. Nowadays, there's no need for that. And yes, I did notice that question was "male humor" because it did not make me laugh.

I'm hoping for Phillies and Rays in the finals too, with the outcome different than yours. I am a die hard Philly fan my whole life (despite living 2 miles from the Marlins (Dolphin) stadium and just a few hours from Tampa Bay). So Phillies over the Dodgers just because they are my team (but also because of Manny's antics), and Rays over Boston because I like to root for the underdog and the new team on the rise, and Boston is so tiring.

To answer the original question, the Phillies have a few solid Hispanic players and not a lot of superstars on the entire team. So I'll look back to a guy from the past that I really liked--Manny Trillo (of course when he was a Phillie, not a Cub).

Rob, finally a man that meets me half way on something!!! But you have to understand my reasoning for wanting Philly to lose. I'm hurt, my team is not in :<( I too like to root for the underdog but I think the Rays have proven themselves.

Angels - they are now out.
Dodgers - hope that they don't lose the fire.

I'm thinking the series will be Dodgers vs. Red Sox....I can't wait to see the crowd react at Fenway when Manny walks in

Same here about Manny. I think he will get booed and applauded.

So boys did I get it right or what, huh? I guess growing up with a bunch of sports fans paid off. What do you think JP? Do you still think I'm kidding? Hey, Ricardo what happened to the Red Sox? And Rob, I know you must be jumping of joy. Now, I must confess I think the Phillies will win this time. The Rays are good but Philly is no piece of cake. It will be an interesting series, let's see what happens. Go Rays!

At first I was in denial and did not want to watch the world series after the Red Sox lost, but all in all they deserved to lose the series with the Rays; Tampa played better and outscored them by far. If it wouldn't have been for a few novice under pressure chokes, Tampa would have won in Boston.

Anyhow, that doesn't make me a Tampa fan at all, and I would prefer to see Philly over Tampa.
