The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) is the nation’s oldest and most versatile Federal law enforcement agency. Federal Marshals have served the country since 1789.
Protecting Federal judicial officials - which includes judges, attorneys and jurors - is a high priority for the Marshals Service.
The Marshals Service is the Federal government’s primary agency for conducting fugitive investigations.
Hundreds of tactical missions are carried out each day by the U.S. Marshals Service’s Special Operations Group.
The Marshals Service ensures the safety of witnesses who risk their lives testifying for the government in cases involving organized crime and other significant criminal activity.
Each year the Marshals Service transports more than 390,000 prisoners and aliens via coordinated air and ground systems.
The Marshals Service is responsible for managing and disposing of seized and forfeited properties acquired by criminals through illegal activities.
If you are (1) a U.S. Citizen; (2) between the ages of 21 and 36; (3) with three years of responsible experience, or a bachelors degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; (4) in excellent medical and physical condition; and (5) willing to submit to a background investigation; you may be eligible to become a Deputy U.S. Marshal, GL-082-5/7.
