Event Description

FREE Dallas Museum of Art CARNIVAL OF CREATIVITY EVENT! Designed for families to experience a wide variety of art,  include an art-making activity inspired by African Head Wear exhibit, music from the Female Mariachi Rosas Divinas, demonstration by blind artist John Bramblitt, performance by Frida and David Lozano inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead, games, animated storytelling, sketching in the galleries, family tours and more!

WHERE: Dallas Museum of Art @ 1717 North Harwood, Dallas, TX

TIME: 11:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m.

Studio Creations
11:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Art Studio, C3
Create your very own hat inspired by the African Headwear: Beyond Fashion exhibition.

ART You Smarter Than Your Grown-Up?
11:30 a.m. - noon, European Galleries, Level 2
Join us in the galleries, where adults and kids will compete in a battle of wits and creativity.

StoryART
Noon-12:30 p.m., C3 Theater
Watch an animated storytelling performance by our resident storyteller, Ann Marie Newman.

Mariachi Rosas Divinas
12:30-1:00 p.m., Flora Street Entrance
Enjoy an outdoor performance by an all-female mariachi group near the Museum's fountain..

Artist Demonstration: Art Beyond Sight
1:00-3:30 p.m., Tech Lab, C3
Meet John Bramblitt, an artist who is blind, as he demonstrates his process of painting without vision.

Annette Lawrence: Accumulation Project Workshop
1:00-4:00 p.m., C3
Join artist Annette Lawrence for the last in a series of workshops in which she invites the community to help her create a work of art that will be installed in C3 this fall.

Costume Parade and Contest
1:30-2:00 p.m., Flora Street Entrance
Enter the costume contest and strut your stuff around the Museum's fountain. Prizes will be awarded!

Sketching in the Galleries for Kids
2:00-4:00 p.m., Ancient Art of the Americas Galleries, Level 4
Sketch from works of art with artist Solange Mariel.
All supplies provided.

Skeletons and Flowers Performance
3:00-3:30 p.m., C3 Theater
Enjoy a performance created by Frida and David Lozano inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead.Please spread the word to family and friends!   Also, if you have interest in volunteering, please contact Maria Teresa G. Pedroche by e-mail.

The DMA is reaching out to engage the community in order to show that art may consist of many forms of sight, sound, and texture and appeal to all ages!  Please spread the word to friends and family who may enjoy this fun family friendly event!

These ladies will be performing at the Flora St. entrance near the fountain at 12:30!
