I am sorry to hear that Angel! And yes, it sounds that you have a great profile... I guess CDC should open more opportunities for minorities ... And it's sad to find out that the promotion within CDC is not good! So, are you currently a GS-11? I wish the best, and I hope CDC can recognize your achievements!!

I am trying to get a job there, but I guess I will need to further my academic education to a higher level, so I can compete with the CDC personnel...

Good luck, Angel...

Thank you Jose! The CDC is a great organization don't get me wrong.....the only thing I see is this issue, with the number of Latino employees being so low.....promotion is quite bad as well in my opinion, I myself have gotten two Masters of Health Science degree, one in International Health and the other in Public Health, 20 years of Navy active duty, certification in Emergency Disaster Management, Safety, etc. and I've been trying to move up to a GS-12 position for 4 years now, but somehow I'm stuck at the same level.....

I agree with you Angel! I actually attended the fair to check out what CDC was offering... My very first impression was a short discussion with some lady, and all she said: "Oh, you can go online and look... everything is in there" She did not add anything else... Fortunately, I met another CDC employee, and of course, she was completely different. She advised to me of some positions, and she asked me to send her my resume, but I have not heard from her yet.... Thinking about the specifics of your comment, we, the Latinos have a big disadvantage with these type of jobs since they require a strong education that many Latinos do not like to pursue! But in future years, I assure you that many more Latinos will land a job there... Congratulations on your job with the CDC ... I do have a deep interest to work there ... I am a biological science major, and what I want is the opportunity to grow as a scientist step-by-step with the CDC. I will keep hope that I will land a job there! AND YES, we need more Latinos working there!!!

It seems to me that the number of latinos working for the CDC does not even come close to the numbers of Whites and Blacks that are working for CDC.... Can anyone else see this? Sorry to say, but it's true.......

I am looking foward to participate in this fair. It is a great opportunity to let know different people that the hispanics are present in the proffessional world.
