♦Latinos in the United States have higher rates of vascular disease, so they may also
be at greater risk for developing Alzheimers.
♦According to a growing body of evidence, risk factors for vascular disease – including
diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol – may also be risk factors for
Alzheimers and stroke-related dementia.
♦While we don’t know yet what causes Alzheimers disease or exactly how these
conditions and dementia are connected, what we do know are that there are things
you can do.
♦Focus on the unique needs of this section of the Latino population
